In both the initial assessment and the actual work, the guys came in quickly and effectively got the work done. they were very open to sharing what they were doing and answering all my questions. I thought this was really important since most homeowners (like me) don't know how their sewers work and need to trust the people doing the work.

Fantastic business. Owner Eric really knows his stuff and tech Jeff as well who is always on time professional and easy going. I’ve worked with them multiple times as a homeowner and realtor. Always my first recommendation. Sure… things can get expensive but you wouldn’t complain about a roof costing 10k so why complain about getting you SEWER fixed?? 10/10

We were referred to Sewer Ninjas by Milwaukee Drain Company after discovering we needed our sewer cleaned—but quickly realized we didn’t have an access point due to the old plumbing in our Milwaukee bungalow. Even though our first appointment had a hiccup, Jeff stepped in immediately, resolved the issue, and truly went above and beyond to make things right. He was professional, thorough, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. Sewer Ninjas turned a frustrating situation into a smooth, stress-free experience. We’ll definitely be working with them again in the future—top-notch service and a great partner to have on your side!

After unsuccessful snaking, this company was recommended, and I could not be happier. From the after hours call the owner made to us to the actual sewer line clean out, these workers are professional and respectful of the home they are in. Everything was fully explained, and the work site mess was at an absolute minimum. They said they would get it open or be able to show why not and were men of their word, issue solved and pipe open as they said they would do. Would not hesitate to recommend this company, fast, quality work, a rarity these days.

Sewer Ninjas is an honest company that strives to provide the best work possible for their customers. We had a series of tree roots growing through our sewer line, and the team scheduled an appointment quickly and removed them. They documented everything with video which made the insurance claim very easy. We also had them reline the existing pipe, and while that process did have a few hiccups, the team returned multiple times to correct the issues and ensure the job met their standards. This definitely impacted the profitability of the job, but Sewer Ninjas prioritized job quality and the long-term health of our home. They offer a strong warranty, and given my experience, I have no doubt they will stand behind it if future issues arise. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Sewer Ninjas Q&A

A flexible liner coated with epoxy resin is inserted into the damaged sewer pipe. Once inflated and cured, it creates a seamless new pipe inside the old one—essentially giving your sewer line a brand-new interior.

A bursting head is pushed through the old pipe while simultaneously pulling a new, durable replacement pipe into place. This method replaces severely damaged or collapsed lines without digging long trenches.

Knowing the materials used in older sewer pipes helps you understand the risks and understand why sewer relining could be valuable.

Common Pipe Materials in Old Homes

  1. Clay Tile (Terracotta)

    • Popular up through the 1950s–60s.

    • Durable but prone to cracking and root intrusion at the joints.

  2. Cast Iron

    • Common from the early 1900s through the 1970s.

    • Strong but subject to corrosion, scaling, and eventual collapse as it ages.

  3. Orangeburg (Bituminous Fiber Pipe)

    • Used from the 1940s–1970s as a cheaper alternative.

    • Made of wood pulp and tar; weak, easily crushed, and deteriorates quickly.

  4. Concrete

    • Found in some sewer and water service lines in homes built before the 1970s.

    • Strong but subject to corrosion, decay, and eventual collapse as it ages.

Why It Matters

  • Clay and Orangeburg pipes often fail structurally, causing backups.

  • Cast iron and galvanized steel corrode from the inside, leading to leaks and blockages.

Sewer relining or trenchless replacement is especially attractive for these materials since it strengthens the existing system without the need to dig up your property.
