This often results in sewage flooding the lowest level, like a basement, through floor or shower drains, posing health risks and damaging the area. Tree roots, attracted to the water and nutrients in the sewer, obstruct the flow, causing blockages that lead to backups. While cleaning devices can temporarily remove the roots and restore flow, the roots often grow back, making it a recurring issue.
Sewer pipe relining or replacing the sewer lateral can permanently resolve sewage backups. Relining the lateral provides a brand new single continuous pipe that prevents entry of tree roots and has a 50-year transferable warranty.
A sewer lateral collapse occurs when the underground pipe connecting a building to the city’s sewer system fails due to age, tree roots, ground movement, or corrosion. This can cause sewage to stop draining properly. The typical solution involves digging a deep trench to replace the pipe, which can be costly and disruptive. Regular sewer video inspections and relining can help prevent this by detecting issues before they lead to collapse.
Sewer lines are typically made from VCP, cast iron, or PVC, with PVC becoming the most common after the 1980s. The life expectancy of these materials varies depending on local conditions like soil, water corrosivity, ground movement, and nearby tree roots. Pipe segments are joined with joints that may leak over time if there's movement in the ground.
Most sewer relining projects can be completed within one to two days, depending on the length and condition of the pipe. The no-dig method allows for faster turnaround with minimal disruption to your property.

Cast Iron Pipes
Cast iron pipes, widely installed in homes built before 1980, often suffer from internal corrosion and rust over time. This corrosion weakens the pipe walls, causing blockages, leaks, and eventual collapse if not addressed.
PVC Pipes
While PVC pipes are more durable, they can still fail due to poor installation, joint separation, or ground movement. Over time, external pressure or damage can cause cracks, leading to blockages or leaks requiring repair or replacement.

Called sewer ninjas to descale and inspect our church and school main sewer lateral. They were on time and went right to work. They worked with our schedule to complete the project.
